Bunbury motel arrests: Tamara Mary Gennoe pleads not guilty over alleged involvement in three-on-one assault

A Bunbury woman has already made a declaration she would fight accusations of being involved in an alleged three-on-one assault that led to police searching a local motel room, in just her second appearance in court. Tamara Mary Gennoe, 34, and Mandurah man Steven John Noakes, 48, both appeared in Bunbury Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, each charged with aggravated home burglary with intent, assault occasioning bodily harm and criminal damage or destruction of property. Ms Gennoe appeared in court via videolink from Melaleuca Women’s Prison, where she pleaded not guilty to each of the charges. Her matters were adjourned to a committal mention date in January to allow prosecutors to provide the evidentiary material to Ms Gennoe’s defence counsel before the matters are eventually sent to the District Court. While Ms Gennoe was remanded in custody for the time being, it was understood defence counsel Ian Hope flagged a bail application may be made on her behalf at a future date. Mr Noakes, who was granted bail which included a surety during a previous appearance in Perth Magistrate’s Court, had his matters adjourned to December to allow for a Legal Aid application to be processed. It was understood a third person had also been charged in relation to the incident and made their first appearance in court on Wednesday. It is alleged the trio broke into a Bunbury property at 6.45am on Friday October 14 and a woman, who police believe was known to Ms Gennoe, Mr Noakes and the unnamed third person, was assaulted during the incident. Police say bodily harm was caused to the alleged victim — though the extent of her injuries was not revealed in court — and Ms Gennoe was armed with a dangerous weapon or instrument during the incident. Ms Gennoe was also accused of causing damage to a Honda CRV which belonged to the alleged victim. Multiple police vehicles attended the Admiral Motel later that morning, where officers conducted a search of one of the guest rooms.
