East Bunbury man Joshua Robert Wroth faces court over alleged burglaries, drug possession and car fire

A South West man has faced court after being charged with stealing more than $30,000 of fishing gear and a chainsaw, as well as allegedly stealing a car and setting it on fire. 37-year-old Bunbury man Joshua Robert Wroth appeared in handcuffs at Bunbury Magistrate’s Court on Thursday to face the charges. Police arrested Mr Wroth on Wednesday, charging him with offences including home burglary and commit, two counts of stealing, burglary and commit, breaching a post-sentence supervision order, criminal damage by fire and multiple counts of drug possession. During his arrest, police allegedly found methamphetamine, cannabis, LSD, DMT and a number of smoking implements in his possession. Police alleged in court Mr Wroth broke into Whitey’s Tackle & Camping in Australind on January 26, where he stole about $33,000 worth of items such as fishing rods and reels. It is alleged Mr Wroth broke into an East Bunbury home between January 5 and 11 and stole a number of items, including coins and a chainsaw, as well as a Honda Sedan that was parked in the driveway. It is further alleged on January 26 Mr Wroth destroyed the stolen Honda by setting it on fire in East Bunbury. During Mr Wroth’s brief appearance in court, he appeared in the dock handcuffed and only answered “yes” to indicate he understood the allegations made against him. Mr Wroth was remanded in custody with all of his charges adjourned for six weeks to make a Legal Aid application without applying for bail. He is next due to appear in March.
