Harvey Bulls forward Kaine Ah-Chee to leave the bullpen, set for Bassendean stint in Perth Football League

Popular forward Kaine Ah-Chee has left the Harvey Bulls and will play with Perth Football League club Bassendean next season. Ah-Chee had initially agreed to spend at least two years with the Bulls but has moved to Perth and departed after just one season in which he kicked 10 goals. The former Peel Thunder player made headlines earlier this year for bravely opening up about his mental health demons and an attempted suicide. He said although he was disappointed his time at the Bulls was cut short, he felt the club was on track to become a SWFL powerhouse. More football: “I enjoyed the people there and enjoyed the footy,” Ah-Chee said. “Obviously we didn’t get the results we would have wanted but we have put the team on the right path and they will keep getting better and keep building. “I know they have been at the bottom for a while now but the building blocks are there now for them to continue on and be competitive every year.” Ah-Chee joins the PFL club after a stunning rise from the C3 grade saw them promoted to the A-grade competition for the first time at the end of last season. “It is the first time they’ve been there and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to play A-grade,” he said. In a statement on the club’s Facebook page, Bassendean said Ah-Chee would be an “X-factor” at half-forward for the club. “We welcome Kaine Ah-Chee to Basso in 2022,” the statement read. “Kaine has had stints in a few country teams in the Goldfields, Peel and South West and played WAFL league footy at Peel Thunder. “We are excited at what Kaine will produce in A-grade next year.” Lifeline: 13 11 14
