Mark Jason Falkous fined after magic mushroom trip that ended with naked shower in Donnybrook Police Station

A man “off with the fairies” on magic mushrooms entered a police station in the early hours of the morning, phoning his ex and the cops — before officers arrived to find him wandering around naked after taking a shower. The bizarre incident happened this month in Donnybrook — and Mark Jason Falkous has been dealt a sobering dose of reality. Appearing in Bunbury Magistrate’s Court on Friday, he pleaded guilty to two counts of damaging property and one count of trespass. He will spend the next year doing community work following his escapade, during which he caused $1000 of damage to Donnybrook police station’s roof and a police car. The events began to unfold about 3.30am on June 1 when Falkous removed several of the station’s roof tiles, one of which fell to the floor and smashed the rear window of a police vehicle. He then decided to enter the building and made a few phone calls — one of which was to police — before having a shower. Prosecuting Sgt Greg Ward told the court that police received a report just before 5am after Falkous phoned his ex-partner and told her where he was. “I also called the Bunbury Police,” Falkous said. Multiple alarms within the station were activated and when officers from Donnybrook and Bunbury arrived, they could hear Falkous yelling. It led them to the station’s showers where officers found Falkous naked. “He said he’d eaten magic mushrooms and ... fallen through the roof of the police station,” Sgt Ward said. “He said he didn’t know why he was there.” Sgt Ward said the incident — which he called “very unique ” — was captured on officers’ body-worn cameras. Magistrate Belinda Coleman said Falkous was “off with the fairies” when the offences occurred but she could see he was “truly remorseful” for what transpired. “It’s a very strange set of circumstances,” she said. Falkous said that he was “living in the bush” after his insurance payments for a back injury recently finished and suggested working at the community op shop as a way for him to recompense. He was sentenced to a 12-month community-based order and ordered to pay $1000 in damages.
