Midland Detectives are hunting for a blue sedan involved in a hit and run that left a young woman with a serious leg injury on Sunday.

The woman, in her 20s, was walking with a friend on a footpath adjacent to Ferguson Street at 6.30am.

The blue sedan, which was driving north along Ferguson Street, mounted the kerb and drove down the footpath before hitting the victim.

The driver did not stop at the scene.

A police spokeswoman said the woman was in hospital with a serious leg injury, and the blue sedan should show signs of damage to the front bonnet area.
