A man is in hospital and a house has been destroyed after an angry early-morning blaze tore through a property east of Perth.
Emergency crews were called to a home on Orton Road in Mundijong about 3.20am where fire was engulfing a house with the 70-year-old inside.
Police assistance was requested at about 3.45am as 11 crews of career and volunteer firefighters battled the fire, extinguishing it by 4.10am.
St John Ambulance took the man to Fiona Stanley Hospital, where he is understood to be getting treatment but it is not serious.
A DFES spokesperson said the cause of the fire could not be determined because of the extent of the damage.
