“Extraordinarily dangerous”: Hoon speeding more than 40km/h over limit claims he was ‘just being a bit silly’

An “extraordinarily dangerous” hoon has been fined after speeding more than 40km/h over the limit in heavy traffic during a trip to Perth. Jake Frichot, 26, was heading north on Murdoch Drive near Secret Harbour at 1.34pm when a speed camera caught him at a speed of 147km/h in a 100km/h zone. The Bunbury man pleaded guilty to one count of reckless driving and high speeding in Harvey Magistrates Court last week, where he told Magistrate Linda Keane he was just “being a bit silly”. “I was being stupid and gave it a bit too much,” he said. Ms Keane said the speeding was extraordinarily dangerous especially given the time of day the offence occurred. Prosecuting officer Senior Constable Darren Grigson said Frichot made full admissions to being the driver of the Subaru and had no previous records. Frichot was handed a $1000 fine with court costs of $259.30, while his licence was suspended for six months.
