New scribe to tell these towns’ stories

That two-hour drive home usually means it’s Christmas, a uni break or I just miss the beach.

However this time I knew my move was a little more indefinite, having just finished my degree, I was excited to see what doors all this debt had opened.

I had hoped to return to the South Western Times newsroom after doing some work experience there during high school, and now I find myself sitting opposite the same desk I sat at some seven years ago.

Growing up in Bunbury meant that I visited Harvey regularly, doing the occasional industrial area driving lesson or stopping off at the Partons IGA on a school trip.

I’ve always been interested in the close-knit town and I am excited to start delving deeper into the community.

Journalism is a passion of mine and though this may not be the most lavish form of it, I think there’s a lot to be said for community news.

Harvey’s history is attested to by its rich stories and interesting people, and these few pages of news will hopefully do the town, as well as its inhabitants, justice. Stories were meant to be told, and I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I will writing them.
