Hollywood actor Rebel Wilson’s controversial book release delayed in Australia
The Australian release of Hollywood actor Rebel Wilson’s highly anticipated memoir has been delayed, with confused fans taking to social media to voice their frustration.
Wilson’s book, Rebel Rising, was due for release on Wednesday but is now unavailable to all Australians hoping to get their hands on the controversial book.
Publishing house Harper Collins Australia told NCA NewsWire that the Australian and UK release “has been moved to coincide with Rebel Wilson’s press tours”, which are understood to be taking place next month.
“A publication date will be announced in due course,” a spokesperson said.
Fans of the Pitch Perfect star took to Wilson’s Instagram page to share their disappointment and ask for clarity on the shock move.
“Pulled from Australia. Please explain,” one Instagram user asked.
“Was sooo excited to read this as a massive fan girl but stupid Australia has recalled it,” another said.
“You went on talk TV to promote the book, said it would be out on April 2nd, it’s now April 3rd here in Aus and not a single retailer is selling it. Please explain,” another angry fan commented.
Others simply said Australians were “not happy”.
Amazon Australia has the book listed as “currently unavailable”, telling customers “we don’t know when or if this item will be back in stock”.
The book first made headlines when Wilson alleged comedian Sacha Baron Cohen sexually harassed her on the set of the 2016 film The Grimsby Brothers.
In the excerpts the Australian-born star shared before the memoir’s release, she claims Cohen pressured her to film a nude scene.
Cohen has vehemently denied the allegations.
The book garnered further attention when Wilson explained the reason she felt British singer Adele hated her.
“Some actresses would get offended if I called them plus-size in this book, so I have to be careful with what I say. This is why, I think, Adele hates me,” Wilson claims in the book according to US Weekly.
