Geraldton’s Callum Williamson takes home a win in opening night of 2025–26 Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series

Geraldton driver Callum Williamson claimed victory on the opening night of the 2025–26 Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series, winning the 30-lap feature race at the Powerpalooza X event Saturday night at Perth Motorplex. Williamson started seventh on the grid but worked his way to the front in a dramatic feature event that opened the new sprintcar season, which drew 26 drivers to the Motorplex. After a slower start in qualifying and the heat races, Williamson capitalised on early race incidents and mechanical issues for key contenders Dayne Kingshott, Kaiden Manders and Kris Coyle, taking the lead by lap four. The 32-year-old pulled out to a solid margin over Taylor Milling before a mid-race caution bunched the field. Milling briefly took the lead on the restart, but Williamson quickly responded, reclaiming the top spot and holding off a late-race charge to secure the win. Williamson said it was an ideal way to kick off the 2025-26 season. “It’s a great way to start the season,” Williamson said. “We weren’t great early, but we came good in the feature race. “I’m stoked to get the win in front of this awesome crowd!” With the win, Williamson takes an early points lead heading into round 2 of the series, set for November 1 at the EGT Sprintcar Westernapolis at Perth Motorplex.
