Mounted police have joined the search for a swimmer missing off Trigg Beach after a person was reported in distress on Tuesday evening.
WA Police were advised about 5.15pm that someone was in distress near the Bluehole.
In many water safety notices last summer, the City of Stirling warned that “the Bluehole at Trigg Beach has the most dangerous rips along the WA coast”.
The search continued at first light on Wednesday morning, with water police officers, the police air wing, marine rescue WA and surf life savers conducting a search of the area.

Search boats are staying close together while patrolling the water, about 100m from the sand - while a police dive boat sat much further out as divers went in.
Three police and two City of Stirling branded jet skis could be seen riding back and fourth along the coast.
Signs have been installed along the shore which warn of dangerous currents.
No one has yet been found.
Anyone with any information relating to a swimmer in distress, or who is a friend or family member of someone who has not returned from a visit to the beach at Trigg, is urged to contact police on 131 444.
