A peak hour crash on Kwinana Freeway northbound blocked a lane on the major Perth road, creating traffic headaches for commuters heading home on Monday afternoon.

The crash was located on the Freeway exit to Roe Highway in North Lake and was reported by Main Roads at 4.29pm.

The right lane was completely blocked by the incident, which caused heavy congestion leading up to the site.

The crash has since been cleared, but traffic remains slow leading up to the site.
