Manjimup police have charged a 46-year-old Bridgetown man with a total of 24 offences after an investigation into alleged fraud against an elderly victim.
Police allege the man stole cheques from the victim before forging and uttering them at multiple bank branches.
It is alleged the man obtained about $17,200 through the offending.
The man is facing forgery, uttering, stealing and fraud-related charges.
Manjimup police officer-in-charge Sgt Tyler Winter said the investigation demonstrated the dedication of local police to pursuing offenders and supporting victims.
“This matter highlights our ongoing commitment to holding offenders accountable and protecting vulnerable members of our community,” he said.
As part of the investigation, Manjimup police executed a search warrant, during which officers allegedly located drugs and ammunition.
This discovery resulted in further charges being laid.
The man is due to appear before the Bunbury Magistrates Court on August 6.
