WA’s largest single day agricultural show just days away as excitement builds

WA’s largest single day agricultural show is just days away with excitement building for the debut of the Harvey region’s first ever drone show.
The 94th annual Brunswick Agricultural Show is on this Saturday, October 25, with the Brunswick Agricultural Society president David Power excited for the festivities to hit town.
“The committee and volunteers all do a lot of hard work in the lead up to it, and the show on the day — as long as there’s some reasonable weather — generally ends up being a very fruitful day,” he said.
Mr Power said the theme for this year’s event was showcasing arts and culture, with the Brunswick region packed with the history and culture of many different nationalities.
“It’s a rich farming area, so we wanted to try and create as much entertainment around the grounds as we can this year — musicians, artists, wood sculptures, many different varieties of entertainment,” he said.
“On the football oval, we’re trying to have as much as that entertainment as we can.”
Mr Power said the show stopper this year would be the region’s first ever drone show, followed by fireworks.
“I think I’m looking forward to the drone show the most, not that drone shows are new, but it’s new for our local area,” he said.
“We’ve got 150 drones that will be in the sky in a nod to our the history of the local area.”
Mr Power said the show would have the always popular sideshow alley, the cattle complex, and the Alan Evans selling complex, where livestock will be auctioned off.
“This year is the 100th year for the stud sheep in WA so we’ve got many sheep turning up to the grounds,” he said.
Mr Power said one particular thing to check out this year would be the meeting marquee where they auction off sausages and show off different ways of cooking meat.
“We’re also going to have butcher wars — we’ve got five or six different butchering companies coming along, displaying their wares and tears with a competition between themselves,” he said.
“We’ve also got the Leschenault timber display, who come every year and provide a fantastic interactive display. We’ve got laser tag on the oval for the kids, we’ve got the bucking bull — there’s plenty of entertainment.”
