The organisers of the Donnybrook Food and Wine Festival have dubbed Saturday's event a success.

Thousands of people flocked to the town's amphitheatre to taste the region's best food and wine.

The organising committee spent months making sure the event was a crowd pleaser.

Committee member Kate Scott said she was happy with the feedback and estimated 4000 to 5000 people attended.

"We reckon it went really well," she said. "It was really successful and we had incredible feedback from the stallholders and the participants as well."

The committee had allowed 50 stallholders to show off their wares during the event, which was fewer than previous years.

"The people who we spoke with said the stallholders were great," Ms Scott said. "As long as we have a good range, we don't need lots of stalls, we just need quality."
