Police investigating horrific attack against 60-year-old outside Bunbury Speedway after Krikke Boys Shootout

A man has been brutally bashed and threatened with guns and a baseball bat in the carpark of the Bunbury Speedway in the early hours of Sunday morning, leaving him with shocking injuries to his face. The incident happened as the 60-year-old Perth man was attempting to leave Saturday night’s Krikke Boys Shootout. Police allege three men — armed with a baseball bat, a handgun and a rifle — approached the victim while he was sitting in his car between the speedway and the adjacent motocross track. The three men demanded he hand over cash, before striking him on the head with the baseball bat and fleeing into nearby bushland. They were all described as wearing dark clothes and balaclavas. The incident happened about 12.30am. Bunbury detectives are investigating and urge anyone who may have any information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Police are also seeking dash-cam footage from the area around the time of the attack. The event looks set to be the 25th and final Krikke Boys Shootout event to be held at Bunbury Speedway.
