A South West education worker is accused of assaulting a 15-year-old girl at their school earlier this year.

Bunbury Detectives this week charged a man, 51, with assault in relation to the incident that happened on school grounds on February 17.

Police will allege the man, who was 50-years-old at the time, assaulted the student during school hours.

The South Western Times understands the man was a teacher’s assistant at Bunbury Regional Community College, an alternative high school for Years 10 to 12 for students who struggle with mainstream learning. The school has a small cohort of just 120 pupils.

The man has been charged with aggravated common assault and will appear in Bunbury Magistrates Court on September 1.
