A 50-year-old woman has been fined for attempting to take revenge for an alleged assault by approaching her ex-partner armed with a metal softball bat. Inge Katerina Jones appeared in Bunbury Magistrates Court on Thursday where she was fined $800 after pleading guilty to being armed in a way that may cause fear. The court was told Ms Jones was at the Graham Bricknell Music Shell during the afternoon of January 3 when she approached a man known to her while holding a metal softball bat. Passers-by witnessed Jones waving the bat around in a threatening way as she approached the man, prompting them to call police. When police approached, Jones dropped the bat and was arrested. In submissions, the court was told Jones was the victim of an alleged assault by her ex-partner — the man she was approaching while holding the bat in an effort to scare him for what he allegedly did. Magistrate Joanne Andretich said it was fortunate nobody was injured during the incident as she handed down the fine. Jones was also ordered to pay court costs.
