Former Colts Cricket Club batter Vikramjit Singh makes One Day International debut for the Netherlands

A teen sensation who lit up Bunbury cricket during his one season as a Colts Cricket Club import has made his One Day International debut. Vikramjit Singh, who featured for the club during the 2019-20 season, batted at number three for the Netherlands in the first of a three-match series against New Zealand on Tuesday. The Indian-born all-rounder made 19 from just 21 balls as the Dutch side made 204, which the Blackcaps ran down with seven wickets in hand. Singh got off the mark with a fluid-looking cover drive, before a rush of blood saw him ramp a ball over the cordon, only to be caught by Ish Sodhi at third man — becoming giant seamer Blair Tickner’s first ODI wicket. The two sides meet again on Saturday in the second ODI, with the final match of the series to be played in Hamilton on Monday. Singh made his international debut for the Netherlands in a T20I against Ireland in 2019 — aged just 17. In his single season at the Bunbury powerhouse, he topped the club’s run-scoring charts with 308 runs at 25.67 and took 16 wickets. The Dutch side is coached by former West Australian first-class batter Ryan Campbell.
