Sarah Stanley and Ian Miffling have maintained their leadership at the Collie Shire, being re-elected as president and deputy president respectively.

Their positions were secured without opposition in the Collie Shire Council chambers on October 26 in a special council meeting.

Justice of the Peace David Henderson oversaw the declarations.

Collie chief executive officer Stuart Devenish called for nominations for the two positions in two separate processes. Councillors Stanley, pictured, and Miffling were the only two nominees who stepped forward. At the local government elections on October 16 the Collie community voted in the five incumbent councillors who had nominated for re-election, filling the five vacancies.

Cr Stanley said the election result showed the community was happy with the council.

“I think the fact we have all been re-elected shows the community’s confidence in the council’s direction and we look forward to continuing that work,” she said.
