South West man Errol Leonard Warner pleads guilty in Bunbury Court to having child exploitation material

A 79-year-old South West man has admitted to possessing a collection of dolls that had been modified to be used as sexual aids. Errol Leonard Warner appeared in Bunbury Magistrates Court on Monday morning via video link from Bunbury Regional Prison where he entered a plea of guilty to two counts of possession of child exploitation material. On September 1, police searched Warner’s caravan in Picton East, where they uncovered the modified dolls and several electronic devices. Upon further investigation of the devices, digital images of child exploitation material were found. During a previous appearance, Warner made a request to be subject to a hospital order for a mental health assessment however was told by the court he would receive counselling in custody and hospital orders were generally reserved for people suffering a significant breakdown in their mental health. Despite previously being denied a suppression order, Warner made another request for his name to be “left out of any papers”. However, Magistrate Joanne Andretich reminded Warner he was represented by duty counsel through which he could address the court. The matters were adjourned to a sentence mention hearing in February, to allow time for pre-sentence and psychological reports to be obtained. Warner will remain in custody until that time.
