Perth Airport’s duty-free precinct has been refurbished in a bold and ambitious attempt to redefine the travel retail experience in WA.
Perth’s duty-free, which officially opened on Wednesday, now spans four stores across terminals one and three, with the latest renovations focused on both departures and arrivals in terminal one.
Leading global travel retail company Avolta has transformed the area into a modern walkthrough design that is hard for travellers to miss while celebrating global luxury and Western Australian charm.
The store design is inspired by the six seasons of the Noongar people — Birak, Bunuru, Djeran, Makuru, Djilba and Kambarang — which are represented through imagery, colour and light.
Tourists and locals alike can experience a beauty destination which features new perfume and cosmetic zones and Australia’s first Haute Parfumerie, offering a collection of niche fragrances.

Perth also gets its own World of Whiskies, an award-winning Avolta concept found in duty-free stores globally, which is an immersive experience for whisky lovers.
Customers will have access to single malts, blends and worldwide favourites such as Macallan, Misaka, Aberlour and Glenlivet.
There is also a section that highlights the best of the West Coast, which honours some of WA’s best wines and whiskies.
Set to elevate travellers’ shopping and hospitality experience is a new cocktail bar hoping to invite jetsetters to sample premium spirits before takeoff.
A luxury eyewear range and curated brands like Baume & Mercier, Hamilton, Longines, Oris and Rado will also be available with an exclusive exploring Perth collection offering treats and gifts made from Aussie ingredients.
Avolta president and chief executive of Asia Pacific Freda Cheung said the refurbishment of Perth’s duty-free was “one of the most ambitious transformations” the team has done in the region.
“We’re proud to introduce a premium retail experience that celebrates the culture and unique spirit of Western Australia,” she said.
“In partnership with Perth Airport, we’re setting a new benchmark for duty-free shopping that meets the evolving expectations of today’s global traveller.”
Perth Airport chief commercial and aviation officer Kate Holsgrove said the transformation was a huge milestone for WA tourism.
“The upgrade marks an exciting step forward in delivering exceptional brands, choice and value and we have no doubt that the new offerings will be extremely popular with our passengers,” she said.
