Bunbury dismantled Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault in the SWFL women’s competition

Bunbury were clinical on Sunday afternoon as they dismantled Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault in the SWFL women’s competition. HBL have not kicked a major since round 10 and were again put to the sword by the third-placed Bulldogs as they ran out winners 12.9 (81) to 0. The game started with Bunbury in control, which continued for the rest of the day. The home side tried hard to keep the Bulldogs at bay but due to their focus on defence remained scoreless in the first half. Bunbury led 5.5 (35) to 0 at the main break. The second half belonged to Bunbury’s forwards as they made the most of one-way traffic to pile on another seven goals. The booming right boot of Sophie Proudfoot was on display as she used her strength to beat out multiple Lions defenders and kick the goal of the day late in the third term. Bulldog forward Georgia Mahony put on a show as she used her speed and skill to bring her teammates into the game and kick three goals of her own. Bunbury now have a chance to jump into top spot before the finals with a win against South Bunbury next week.
