Harvey Bulls and Eaton Boomers looking to close out 2021 SWFL with a win

They may not have a chance at a finals run, but both Harvey and Eaton will be looking to close out their season on a high this weekend. The Bulls and Boomers sit in eighth and 10th on the ladder respectively heading in to the final round, with a win able to prevent the latter from the dreaded wooden spoon. Eaton have two wins for the year and Harvey have managed three, but are still looking for their first points under coach Ned Fimmano. Fimmano said while the season had been tough at times due to long-term injuries to key players, it had provided opportunities for others to step up. “It has been up and down, but injuries are part of the game and it has given us the chance to play some of our colts boys,” Fimmano said. “Whilst winning is important, we have focused on the development of our kids this year for the future.” Harvey were wasteful in front of goals when the teams met in round nine and Eaton had a 4.3 (27) to 2.9 (21) lead at the main break. The Boomers then kicked four goals to three in the third term to lead by 14 at three-quarter-time. A late charge from the Bulls was not enough to get the Harvey side over the line as Eaton went on to win 8.8 (56) to 7.10 (52). Both sides suffered loses last weekend as Augusta-Margaret River thrashed Harvey by 90 and Eaton lost a competitive clash with South Bunbury by 22. The game will be played at Glen Huon Reserve at 3pm on Sunday.
