AFL: West Coast return to Optus in celebration of 40 years of AFL history and 20 years since their historic 2006 flag, with a win against Richmond non-negotiable.

The Eagles are under massive pressure after a month of thrashings, including a 101-point mauling against St Kilda last weekend.

Richmond comes into the game without a win but will see this clash as their best chance to sing the song for the first time in 2026 with all the pressure on the Eagles.

Eagles continue to butcher the ball

Harry Schoenberg misses the target under no pressure in the middle.

Reuben Ginbey then turns it over in D50 allowing Tyler Sonsie a shot on goal but he hits the post.

Prestia is done. Cole is injured

The Richmond veteran has done a calf. Tom Cole is also hurt and is being helped off the ground.

Matt Owies continues his hot start

He’s the leader possession getter on the ground for the Eagles.

He leads into the pocket where Kelly finds him and he takes a strong mark.

He snaps truly around the corner to put the Eagles back in front.

Richmond counterattack again

West Coast have the outnumber but Josh Lindsay misses the handball and Richmond have a three on one running on goal.

Jonty Faull goes the chip kick but it bounces through on goal anyway.

Eagles butchering the ball inside 50

They’ve dominated the territory and the Tigers are flooding back.

They have 10 inside 50s to three but their disposals efficiency is below 60 per cent

Richmond respond

Another transition from d50 as the Tigers have the outnumber on the wing after Ginbey leaves Lynch to try and spoil.

It gets to Lynch who burns off Tom Cole and centres to Campbell who goals from the square.

Richmond under pressure

They’ve been under huge pressure to start this game struggling to get the ball out of defensive 50. But a free kick to Lefau gets them out and they transition up the wing to Seth Campbell but he misses left.

Reid gets the crowd alight

Eagles intercept in the middle and Liam Baker stands up in the tackle to handball to Reid who runs into space and steadies for the goal.

Crowd loved that one.

Here we go

Eagles win the clearance and have an early shot as Matt Owies has a snap but he goes to the left for a behind.

Eagles are on the field

The 2006 side form a guard of honour for them as they run out and how desperate the 2026 Eagles would be get a win today.
