Even though, at first glance, this apperars to be a simple shot it has many interesting layers. The bright red and yellow sign against the faded green paint, the rust on the boiler and the concertina safety barrier on the bottom left all contribute to it. I have framed it carefully to avoid any distracting elements in the surroundings and used the rule of thirds composition to place the cabin slightly off centre. It is shot with a Leica SL and a Vario-Elmarit 24-90 mm zoom at 40mm. The camera settings were ISO 800, 1/40 sec shutter speed and a f/14 aperture.

In this shot I have focused on the grass reeds in front of St Ildephonsus’ College and managed the depth of field to have the building slightly out of focus. I've deliberately anchored the building at the bottom of the frame to make the reeds stand out against the blue sky. It is taken with a Sony A7III and a 24-240mm zoom and the camera settings were: ISO 200, 1/640 second shutter speed, and f/13 aperture.

With its peeling paint, the clock tower on the Guildford Post Office is starting to show it's age, but it adds to its charm. I chose this angle because the tree in the foreground hides part of the neighbouring building. I have used the rule of thirds grid in my viewfinder to place the clock tower along the left hand vertical line to create a pleasant clean composition. It was shot on my Sony A7III and a 24-240mm zoom set to 70mm. The camera settings were: ISO 200, 1/1600 sec shutter speed and f/5.6 aperture.

This shot uses the classic rule of thirds composition rule. With the grid enabled on my camera's viewfinder as a guide, I have placed the valve tower where the left hand vertical line and bottom horizontal line meet to create a pleasant composition. I have deliberately left lots of space on the right to show the body of water and I like how the sun reflects on the surface. The pic was taken with my Sony A7III and a 24-240mm zoom at 35 mm. The camera settings were: ISO 200, 1/400 sec shutter speed, and f/11 aperture.

I always like to look up when I'm out snapping pics because it often reveals an interesting perspective. I liked this because the Perth Bell Tower is framed by both natural and man-made elements. The pic was shot with my Sony A7III and a 24-70 mm set to 24 mm. The settings were ISO 800, 1/20th second shutter speed and f/7.1 aperture.

I think this picture sums up a typical morning at Rotto. I like the dappled morning light created by the shady fig trees and the distinctive orange coloured buildings. I have composed it so the people locking up their bikes on the left, balances with the cafe veranda and the glimpse of the ocean in the distance. My Pixel 9 Pro has done a nice job of balancing the tricky light.
