Tiffany Woodley: Peter Damjanovic pleads guilty to brutally murdering mum-of-three in her Bedford home

The family of a woman brutally killed by her partner sobbed in relief as her killer pleaded guilty to her murder just as his Supreme Court trial was about to begin. More than two years after mother-of-three Tiffany Woodley’s death, Peter Damjanovic, 39, finally admitted in the Supreme Court on Monday to beating her to death in her own bathroom following years of domestic violence. Her death in 2023 was among a spate of high-profile domestic violence deaths which led to crisis talks between advocacy groups and victims and WA Police top brass, Premier Roger Cook and Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence Minister Sabine Winton on how to tackle the scourge. Outside of court, Ms Woodley’s 12-year-old son Clive Milera-Kickett wore a T-shirt emblazoned with his mother’s face as he stood by his grandmother, Meretta Kickett, who told the media that the guilty plea was “a relief.” The court heard on the day of Ms Woodley’s death, Damjanovic had used $300 worth of amphetamines and drank half a bottle of port wine when he got into a fight with the 35-year-old in her Bedford home. State Prosecutor Katrin Robinson said Damjanovic beat Ms Woodley in her bathroom with a shower head, a towel rail and his bare hands causing 42 soft tissue injuries to her head. Ms Woodley’s family groaned in court as graphic details of her injuries were read out. Ms Robinson said when Ms Woodley stopped breathing, Damjanovic called triple-0 “In the triple-0 call the offender stated that the deceased was not breathing and that he had killed her,” Ms Robinson said. Damjanovic later told police when they arrested him: “Yes sir, yes, I’m a murderer.” He also told a paramedic, “I will burn in hell for it.” Damjanovic had been set to face a judge-alone trial on Monday morning. He had been granted a trial without a jury by Justice Joseph McGrath due to the graphic and confronting nature of some of the evidence. Outside of court Ms Woodley’s sister Semisha Kickett said they were angry that Damjanovic had waited so long to admit his guilt. “I’m angry, I hope he gets what he deserves because my sister don’t deserve that, she is not coming back,” she said. Ms Woodley’s mother said the family had felt let down by the inaction of the Department of Housing and police over Ms Woodley’s many reports of violence at the hands of Damjanovic. “Many years we have had dealings with police and housing calling them to put Tiffany in a safe house and even try to get him put away but most times they let him go,” Meretta Kickett said. Ms Woodley’s aunt Rosalie Kickett said she hoped her niece’s story would lead to the other women seeking and receiving the help they need. “I think this is the warning sign that all women who are going through domestic violence that it needs to be addressed immediately not down the track,” she said “We don’t want this to happen to any other woman, any other family what we have gone through.” Damjanovic is set to be sentenced on March 5. 1800 RESPECT (1800 737 732) 13YARN
