Ellenbrook Secondary College stabbing: Mum of victim speaks out as her son recovers from alleged gang attack

A Perth mum is still coming to terms with how close she came to losing her son when he was stabbed outside of his Ellenbrook school on Monday.
The 15-year-old was stabbed outside Ellenbrook Secondary College after at least 10 teens allegedly set upon him and his friend.
After the victim was approached by the group it’s alleged he was stabbed in the bicep.
He was then attacked with an extendable baton, an alleged act that caused the victim dizziness and a laceration to his head.
The victim’s mum said it was “every parent’s worst nightmare”.
“I was at work at the time. I just left work and they were taking him to the hospital in an ambulance,” she said.
“He potentially couldn’t have been here with me today so that’s really something that does play on my mind a lot.”
It’s alleged the members of the South Side gang travelled north of the river for revenge for online abuse.
The victim’s mum says they had the wrong teen.
“He’s not a saint, I will just put that out there, but my son wasn’t the target of this gang. I believe it was his friend,” she said.
“It’s unfortunate he ran away and so my son had to bear the brunt of the attack.”

The teenager is now recovering.
So far four out of the 10 teenagers involved in the alleged attack have been granted bail, including the 14-year-old who allegedly slashed the boy with the knife.
“It’s frightening to understand there are kids out there carrying weapons. I feel that the justice system should be a lot harsher,” the mum said.
