Man admits to chainsaw threat to police, threat to kill his own family, and attempted police station break-in

A man has admitted to threatening police with a chainsaw, threatening to kill a relative, and attempting to break into Blackstone police station. Elroy Robinson, 28, pleaded guilty to 12 charges in Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court on Thursday when he appeared via video link from Eastern Goldfields Regional Prison. His charges include two assaults of public officers, an attempted burglary on Blackstone police station, two counts of being armed — one with a metal pole, and the other with a knife — making a threat to harm, and an aggravated threat to kill. The details of his offending were not read to the court, but some were read on a previous court appearance and published by the Kalgoorlie Miner. The prosecution on that date told the court Robinson threatened to “come after” police with a chainsaw because he was a “dangerous man” after they arrested him for breaching protective bail conditions — another charge to which he has since pleaded guilty. It was further stated he spat in an officer’s face, kicked an officer in the leg, swung a chair at police, and told a female officer to perform a sexual act on him. After entering the pleas during Thursday’s appearance, Robinson’s lawyer Leneva Polmear asked for sentencing to be adjourned until a date in November, which Magistrate Paul Lyons granted.
