Bryana Shera Turner: Bunbury woman faces 75 stealing charges, admits to taking $3000 from City Beach tills

A 28-year-old checkout worker at one of Australia’s biggest surf wear retailers has admitted to stealing at least $3000 while working with the company. Bryana Shera Turner appeared in Bunbury Magistrates Court on Thursday, where it emerged she had taken thousands of dollars in cash during her time as a worker at City Beach Bunbury between March 30 and April 2. While the full facts on the incident were not disclosed in court, it was revealed a review of CCTV vision led to the charges being laid. Turner has admitted to seven counts of stealing as a servant, and denied three of the charges but is yet to enter pleas for another 65 counts of stealing, which also relate to her time at City Beach. The highest sum she stole at one given time was $689.96, however, the woman also admitted to stealing another $2326.76 over the four-day period. Turner’s duty lawyer submitted she was “willing and able” to compensate the store with funds she had admitted to taking. She will return to court in November to continue the matter. City Beach Bunbury is located within Blair Street’s Primewest Centrepoint shopping centre and is the only store from the franchise located within the South West region. While the penalty for such crimes vary depending on the amount stolen and the number of offendings, the woman could face up to 10 years imprisonment.
