Australia are poised to take complete control of the Test after a strong session of play on a rain-affected day two.

However, Proteas skipper Temba Bavuma is digging deep and is his side’s best chance of halting the tourists’ charge.

Can Australia grab five wickets in the morning session and get batting in the best conditions?

Lunch

South Africa take the session with the Australians grabbing only one wicket.

Jansen and Bavuma have made it look easy but the tourists will get a new ball in eight overs.

They will also be encouraged by the ease of the batting for their innings.

Turn!

Mic Maddinson gets the ball and finds some spin first ball with some left-arm offies.

However, it doesn’t worry Bavuma much.

Webster time

We have about eight minutes before lunch and Cummins has chucked the ball to Webster.

The all-rounder has 0-1 from four overs.

Cracking up

Jansen hits the ball so hard he has cracked the handle of his bat.

Starc’s bouncer didn’t get up and it was pulled to the rope despite the South African breaking his bat.

200

South Africa pass 200 and Jansen and Bavuma have put on 90, breaking a 107-year record for highest partnership for the seventh wicket at St George’s Park.

Australia would have hoped to have them wrapped up for 150 this morning.

Overturned

Renshaw nearly does the trick with a straight one. (They’re all straight)

He goes a bit quicker after dropping his length back and Jansen prods at it.

It sounded like it took the edge but a review from Jansen reveals he hit his pad and the ball didn’t touch the bat.

Jansen 50!

The all-rounder makes a crucial half century and in some fashion.

His counter attack was at times as beautiful as it was brutal, especially his driving.

Jansen’s knock is moving the home side towards 200.

The golden arm

Matt Renshaw is into the attack to provide some part-time off-spin.

Interesting to see if there’s any turn.

SA 6-174

How’d that miss!?

Cummins has pushed Jansen back with the short ball and then fires a yorker in.

It just misses off stump!

SA 6-173

Just over!

Jansen takes on the Cummins short ball and it just gets over deep square leg for six!

Marco is not going to take a backwards step as he moves to 40 from 29.

He’s making the pitch look very flat.
