And Lyon follows!

Brydon Carse is on a hat-trick after knocking over Nathan Lyon lbw!

The Australian spinner did review the decision as his side had enough left to do so but walked off the ground and was shown to be trapped dead in front.

Cummins out!

England are at least doing what they can to wrap up Australia’s tail quickly.

Pat Cummins has thrown his hands at a wide Brydon Carse ball, only edging through to Harry Brook at slip.

Wrong side of history

England already needed to break all sorts of records to win this Test and keep themselves in the Ashes.

But Australia’s lead has now ticked up to 425, ahead of the 418 which stands as the greatest ever fourth-innings chase in the game’s history.

Enter Jofra

England’s primary weapon has been held back this morning but Ben Stokes has taken the second new ball and introduced Jofra Archer into the attack.

After coming in for heavy criticism in Brisbane, he has been one of few players for the tourists who has been able to hold their head high here, backing up a first-innings five-wicket haul with a half-century.

England called for a review thinking Mitchell Starc had gloved his second delivery of the day down the leg side but replays showed it had come off his thigh pad.

Inglis goes too!

England are at least doing their best to mop up Australia quickly this morning, with Josh Inglis quickly following Alex Carey.

Inglis edged a nice delivery from Josh Tongue through to wicketkeeper Jamie Smith to depart for 10.

Carey out!

England captain Ben Stokes has bowled a solid spell this morning and has earned some reward, picking up Alex Carey for 72.

Carey gloved a short ball right into a trap which had been set with Harry Brook at leg gully, but has played his part of batting Australia into a dominant position.

Drinks are being taken at Adelaide Oval.

Inglis survives!

England thought they had another breakthrough, with Josh Inglis given out lbw off the bowling of captain Ben Stokes.

But the West Australian reviewed immediately and was proven correct when replays showed he had smashed the ball on to his pad.

It must be said umpires Nitin Menon and Ahsan Raza have not had a good Test.

AUS 5-325.

Carey carries on

His fellow South Australian Travis Head has departed but Alex Carey still looks in serene touch, moving along to 69.

Already the first Australian wicketkeeper to make both a hundred and a half-century in the same Ashes Test match, he will be looking to make more history by again bringing up three figures.

AUS 5-319

Does Inglis need runs?

Josh Inglis has now walked to the wicket at No.7 and he may need some runs in order to make a certainty of his place for the Boxing Day Test.

The West Australian has made a pair of starts in the series but Usman Khawaja’s strong return deputising for the ill Steve Smith will create pressure for spots in Melbourne.

AUS 5-317

Head gone!

Well, that came from nowhere!

Josh Tongue has picked up the wicket of Travis Head but it was hardly down to the skill of the bowler, with an almighty slog costing the South Australian his wicket.

Zak Crawley did not look comfortable under the ball on the leg-side boundary but managed to complete a catch to send Head on his way for 170.

The hometown hero has left Adelaide Oval to rapturous applause.

AUS 5-311
