Bizarre hot cross buns flavours are set to hit Coles stores ahead of Easter, with a Doritos-inspired cheesy jalapeño, matcha and raspberry hot cross buns forming part of the flavour profile for 2026.

An Arnott’s mint slice hot cross bun and sticky date hot cross bun is also part of the “mouth-watering creations”, Coles said in statement on Tuesday.

The cheesy jalapeño hot cross buns are infused with cheese, Doritos-inspired seasoning, jalapeños, and tomato granules for a nacho-inspired fiesta.

Matcha and raspberry hot cross buns have been blended with earthy matcha, white chocolate, and raspberry flavoured fudge pieces.

The limited addition flavours will be available from February during the Easter period in all Coles stores and online for $5.50 for a pack of four.

Coles General Manager Commercial, Bakery, Dairy & Frozen, Brad Gorman says the development team has spent over a year crafting this year’s range, and “blends classics with daring new innovations”.

For those who love traditional flavours, classic fruit, apple and cinnamon, fruit-free, and chocolate varieties will still be available for purchase.

“Every Easter, Aussies show just how much they love hot cross buns, and this year we’ve gone bigger than ever before,” Mr Gorman said.

“No matter your taste, there’s a hot cross bun for everyone at Coles this Easter.” he said.
